Rationale

In addition to the other programs offered by The Center, we are pleased to offer the following services:

Graduate-level courses are periodically taught at The Center during the summer. In the past, credits have been granted through Marian College, Fond du Lac, WI.

Master Teacher experiences give teachers who need to work with gifted learners an opportunity to learn from Center staff.

Curriculum development and instruction includes field experience with three instructional models designed and implemented by Center teachers.

Parent in-services offer instruction and guidance to parents for dealing with the unique developmental tasks of gifted learners.

Sponsorship of speakers of particular expertise in education of gifted students is offered by The Center year round.

Direct in-service programs to requesting school districts allow for sharing practical experiences gained at The Center.

Preview of all educational resource materials is available at The Center to any school district requesting the service.

Private consultations are available for persons requiring information related to the needs of gifted learners.

A list of Suggested Readings for Parents and Teachers of gifted learners is available from the WCGL upon request. The list includes resources both classic and contemporary that explore many topics of importance including: perfectionism; acceleration; family dynamics; historical perspective; identification; learning styles; curriculum practices; and appreciation of, and living harmoniously with gifted learners.

A newsletter is distributed two times a year. WCGL Update is intended to keep the reader informed about major concerns related to living and working with gifted learners.
