Focus The Parent Support Council (The Council), an extension of the Wisconsin Center for Gifted Learners (WCGL), is a group inivolved in helping parents of gifted learners to gain a better understanding of their children, their school environment, and themselves. The Council offers information, camaraderie, informal discussion, and insight for all parents who seek to better understand their gifted learners' educational, social, and emotional needs. The Council stresses the importance of the home environment as a safe place for children to return after a day of focused learning and exploration at school. Activities The Council meets for three hours, once a month, for ten months out of the year. Discussions are informative, proactive, and mutually supportive. Council members enjoy meeting and speaking with parents of other gifted learners, lending an ear, and offering support or advice in a collegeial and relaxed atmosphere.
